An Upcycled Notebook

Writer: House of BroohahHouse of Broohah

February weather in the land of Broohah is not conducive to outsiding.  I prefer to spend my time safely indoors in the company of a hot drink and an unhealthy snack writing aspirational lists for the year ahead.

Of course, to write a really good list you need a really good notebook.  So in the spirit of sustainability the elves and I manufacture our own from GOOS (Good On One Side) paper which we have here in plentiful supply.

From all the many home book binding techniques out there, we have adopted the method outlined by Arne and Carlos in their excellent book, Make Your Own Idea Book (Arne Nerjordet and Carlos Zachrison).  We found it in the Broohah Library, there is also a short youtube tutorial about it here.

You won’t need any complicated equipment, if you have a sewing machine that does a straight stitch, basic sewing supplies and PVA glue then you are ready to go.

For this upcycled notebook I included pages of old pictures and stories by my children when they were small and decorated the cover with a beautiful blue ‘Yewdale’ linen from Miller Honeyman.  I gifted it to my sister and can’t wait to see what she uses it for.
